Tic-Tac-Toe Series

Back in the spring of 2014…
I was drawing in my sketchbook and started to draw the pound sign “#” or as now they’re called, “hashtags.” I had no clue why but only was drawn by the familiarity of it thru the use of social media. I then realized that the “hashtag” resembled the Tic-Tac- Toe game board. I eventually saw the potential of this game and realized that these were actually drawings, participated by two people. I was new to the city still and I wanted to create work that involved others, but I wanted to involve others that might not necessarily be “into” or “good” at Art. I took this concept and the next day I began playing random visitors in the MoMA. This launched a series that lasted over the span of several years, that still can be continued whenever I feel like it. Over the course of those years I played games with my peers, famous artists, and anyone that might catch my eye, or wanted to stamp our time together in time. Here are some of those drawings! :).

Details of Tic-Tac-Toe book

All Games played on mostly some form of paper. Whether that be an envelope, a page I ripped out of a book, or a receipt. They’re fun, impromptu, and they’re a cause to be sporadic. Some folks I met while going to their artists talks, knowing them personally, or bumping into them on the subway. You just never know who you’ll run into!
